In fiscal year 2014, USCIS will offer training seminars to provide participants with ideas, promising practices, and tools for building, enhancing, and maintaining a comprehensive adult citizenship education program. USCIS seminars are free, but space is limited.
Participants will learn about the naturalization process and test; receive hands-on practice developing an effective citizenship curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and classroom activities; learn how to incorporate civics content into lessons and classroom activities; and be presented with strategies to help students improve English skills in preparation for the naturalization test. Each seminar will be a day-and-a-half in length.
Supplemental Workshop for Adult Citizenship Program Administrators
In select locations, USCIS may add a supplemental workshop to the training seminar for adult citizenship program administrators. During this workshop, participants will learn how to utilize key components of effective programs to improve or enhance existing offerings, and how to design and implement a comprehensive adult citizenship curriculum. Seminars featuring this supplemental half-day workshop will be two full days in total.
