Stephen Legomsky, Chief Counsel

Stephen Legomsky is the USCIS Chief Counsel. He assumed his role on Oct. 24, 2012.

 

Background Experience/Significant Achievements:

Legomsky has over 30 years of experience in U.S., comparative, and international immigration, as well as in refugee and citizenship law and policy. Before serving in his current role, he was the Jogn S. Lehmann University Professor at the Washington University School of Law. During his career, Legomsky has held various academic positions at Washington University School of Law.

 

Education:

Legomsky has a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oxford and a law degree from the University of San Diego, where he graduated first  in his class and was Notes and Comments Editor of the San Diego Law Review. He also has a Bachelors of Science in mathematics from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
