The USCIS Genealogy Program processes Index Search Requests (G-1041) and Record Requests (G-1041A) upon receipt of the request and payment.  The Genealogy Team works requests on rolling basis.

  • Index Search Requests usually mail out within 3 to 4 weeks but may take up to 120 days.
  • Record Requests may take longer. Older Record Requests not yet closed may be for harder to find files or awaiting privacy screening as required by Federal Law. If you submitted a Record Request (G-1041A) that is 90 days old or older and have not yet received a file/response, you may contact us via e-mail, or postal mail. Postal mail inquiries must be sent to:

USCIS Genealogy Program
1200 First Street NE Room 230
Washington, DC 20529-2206

Questions regarding the receipt of a particular request, urgent status inquiries, and questions about the USCIS Genealogy Program may be sent to our Case Status Request Mailbox.

*Please include all the information regarding your case along with the Case ID number.
