Request Status
The USCIS Genealogy Program processes Index Search Requests (G-1041) and Record Requests (G-1041A) upon receipt of the request and payment. The Genealogy Team works requests on rolling basis.

Index Search Requests usually mail out within 3 to 4 weeks but may take up to 120 days.

Record Requests may take longer. Older Record Requests not yet closed may be for harder to find files or awaiting privacy screening as required by Federal Law. If you submitted a Record Request (G-1041A) that is 90 days old or older and have not yet received a file/response, you may contact us via e-mail, or postal mail. Postal mail inquiries must be sent to:

Questions regarding the receipt of a particular request, urgent status inquiries, and questions about the USCIS Genealogy Program may be sent to our Case Status Request Mailbox.
