Introduction to the USCIS Historical Library
Welcome to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services History Office & Library, where we preserve and promote the history of USCIS and its predecessor agencies.
Among the library’s frequent patrons are scholars, students, journalists, attorneys, and many others. We provide services to both government and public customers, thanks to our large collection:
Comprised mainly of:
A General collection , that includes:
publications, annual reports, statistical yearbooks, handbooks, agency operations, and program material.
A Periodical section ,consisting of late 20th century agency periodicals like the INS Monthly Review, I&N Reporter, Information Bulletin, and Commissioner’s Communiqué.
An extensive Vertical File, where a number of materials can be found on various immigration and nationality topics.
And a variety of Legal History Resources, including the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 and prior laws.
In addition to all the print resources please ask us to show you our Historical Photograph and Video Collection. Take time, as well to view Our Videotapes that cover a variety of topics on immigration legislation, dating back to the 1980’s.
