Ron Rosenberg, Chief, Administrative Appeals Office

Background and Achievements

Ron Rosenberg is the chief of the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) for USCIS.  He assumed his role in August 2013. With jurisdiction over more than 50 immigration benefit categories, the AAO conducts appellate review to promote consistency and accuracy in the interpretation of immigration law and policy.

Rosenberg has more than 15 years of public service in the immigration sector. He previously served as director of the Arlington Asylum Office; special assistant in the Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations Directorate; director at the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, Cuba; and associate counsel with the Office of the Chief Counsel. Rosenberg began his public service as an attorney advisor with the Executive Office for Immigration Review in Miami, Florida.


Rosenberg obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He also has Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in international affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
