Andrew J. Davidson, Acting Deputy Director, USCIS

Andrew Davidson is the acting deputy director for USCIS. He began serving in this role on Jan. 26, 2025.

Prior to this role, Davidson served as deputy associate director within the Service Center Operations Directorate. Davidson has previously served in several senior leadership positions within USCIS, including acting USCIS deputy director, senior counselor, deputy associate director of the Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations Directorate (RAIO) and as the chief of the Asylum Division in RAIO. Before joining RAIO as Asylum Division Chief in 2019, Davidson served as deputy associate director of the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) beginning in March 2017. Before that he served as deputy associate director of the Immigration Records and Identity Services (IRIS) Directorate, beginning in 2016, where he was appointed to the Senior Executive Service.

Davidson previously served as the acting chief of staff for the Miami and Caribbean District. From May to October 2015 and January to March 2016, Davidson served as acting deputy associate director of FDNS. From October 2013 to April 2015, he served as the Kendall Field Office director and acting director of the Oakland Park Field Office. In October 2011, Davidson was selected as special assistant to the USCIS deputy director. In that role, he also served as the DHS exchange officer to the Five Country Conference in New Zealand, where he led a high-level consortium of senior immigration officers to design a project focused on improving the integrity of each country’s immigration system.

Davidson began his civil service career at legacy INS as an immigration inspector at the Calexico Port of Entry in 1997. He later served as district adjudications officer, supervisory adjudications officer, and FDNS immigration officer at the San Diego District Office. In 2006, with the creation of the USCIS Refugee Corps, Davidson transferred to USCIS headquarters. Davidson served in various roles within USCIS Refugee Affairs Division until 2011, including the establishment of the Security Vetting and Program Integrity Office.

Before his career at INS and USCIS, Davidson served on active duty with the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a resident of Florida.
