2.1 APPLICANT INFORMATION (INITIAL OR RENEWAL)

Airport operators who participate in E-Verify must collect the applicant’s information on a written or electronic application before creating an E-Verify case. In order for the Airport Operator to have the information needed to create an E-Verify case, applicants must present documentation from List A or a combination from List B and C of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, for the application. See the list of acceptable documents. The application must collect the following information from the applicant in order to create an E-Verify case:

  • Social Security number
  • Citizenship status (whether the applicant is a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work)
  • Document name
  • Document number
  • Document expiration date

If an applicant presents a combination of List B and C documents, then the List B document must contain a photo. Airport Operators must retain a copy of the applicant’s documentation in their records.

To create a case, enter the information from the application into E-Verify. To enter this information in E-Verify, you must first log in with your assigned user ID and password and then follow the steps outlined in the How to Create a Case – Process Overview.

HOW TO CREATE A CASE – PROCESS OVERVIEW
  • From Cases, click New Case.
  • Select the applicant’s citizenship status from the application. Click Continue.
  • Select the documents provided from the application. Click Continue.
  • Enter all required information from the application into each text field.
  • Do not enter the applicant’s e-mail address. E-Verify may send an e-mail notification that could cause confusion to the applicant due to the special use of E-Verify for Airport Operators.

Note: Employer Case ID is an optional field for users who wish to assign an internal tracking code to a case
