DHS extends TPS Designation for Somalia

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for eligible nationals of Somalia (and those without nationality who last habitually resided in Somalia) for an additional 18 months, from March 18, 2017, through Sept. 17, 2018. DHS also automatically extended current TPS Somalia Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) with a March 17, 2017, expiration date for 6 months. These existing EADs are now valid through Sept. 17, 2017.

Read more on this extension of TPS for Somalia in the Federal Register or on uscis.gov. Employers verifying or reverifying the employment eligibility of employees who are TPS beneficiaries from Somalia should refer to the Temporary Protected Status page on I-9 Central.
