An update to the Cuban-Haitian Entrant Fact Sheet to assist SAVE user agencies in verifying when applicants are Cuban-Haitian Entrants. The term “Cuban-Haitian Entrant” relates to benefit eligibility rather than an immigration status. Individuals who meet the definition of a Cuban-Haitian Entrant may be eligible for certain federal public benefits. Background Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-led effort across the federal government that began in July 2021 to support vulnerable Afghans as they safely resettle in the United States.  OAW includes screening before arrival in the United States, initial immigration processing, COVID-19 protocols and additional medical services, and connection with resettlement organizations for community placement.

Status of Citizens of the Republic of Palau
Fact Sheet Background for Citizens of the Republic of Palau The Republic of Palau (Palau) is a sovereign nation located in the western Pacific Ocean, between Guam and the Philippines. The Compact of Free Association Approval Act (Public Law 99-658, Nov. 14, 1986) approved a joint resolution between the United States and Palau to terminate the United States trusteeship over the former Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI) and establish Palau as a sovereign nation with a special relationship with the United States. The Compact of Free Association between the United States and Palau took effect on Oct. 1, 1994.
