SAVE Improves Responses for Individuals with Pending Asylum and Approved Employment Authorization
SAVE is increasing the number of automated initial responses for individuals with a pending asylum application who also have an unexpired Form I-766, Employment Authorization Document (EAD). This change is based on feedback from SAVE user agencies and will improve response timeliness.
SAVE Verification
SAVE can provide an initial response of “Application Pending (Asylum) – Temp Emp Auth” for individuals with a pending asylum application when the applicant has an unexpired EAD based on an independent category of employment authorization. For example, SAVE may provide this response for an asylum applicant with a parole-based EAD (EAD category C11). SAVE will continue to provide this response for individuals who have an EAD based on a pending asylum application (EAD category C08).
Individuals may have more than one valid immigration status or category and may present immigration documents that demonstrate additional pending applications or approved statuses or categories. If the automated SAVE response is unexpected or is not sufficient for an agency to make a benefit eligibility determination, the agency should institute Additional Verification. SAVE Additional Verification provides a detailed verification response, including:
- Additional immigration statuses and categories, if any; and
- Pending immigration applications.
